Look at what 3 guys have done at Streamy... http://Streamy.com
Not just a feed reader but friendfeed like conversations long ago along with meebo like IM intgration for all messengers as well as integration with other networks including twitter, facebook, etc.
it's amazing stuff. I think Google will buy streamy and incorporate into google reader.
Yahoo has been just as slow with delicious, only recently adding good social features for sharing.
Sleeping giants are frustrating.
